Each month we will host a different topic which will take place at 7:00pm at St. Ann in the church. We encourage you to invite a friend or family member to attend with you. Last month, we welcomed Kimberly Bolden and Molly Lyons of LADD, who kicked off our speaker series with a presentation on programs for adults with developmental disabilities.
Over the past several years, the issue of Mental Health has risen to the forefront. There are more people suffering from anxiety, depression; and many who suffer in silence because of the fear of several possible results; family response, stigma of being "labeled", peer pressure, isolation, the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, this can lead to depression, feeling trapped and possible suicide. This issue is so important, that the Catholic Church in the United States is renewing its National Catholic Mental Health Campaign (NCMHC), encouraging all people to become more aware of the issues, eliminate the stigmas around mental illness, and seek creative ways to journey with those who struggle. On August 27, we are excited to have Mary Ann Bressler from Catholic Charities of Southwestern Ohio here to speak about Mental Health First Aid. Mental Health is vital to the well-being of everyone and just as CPR and emergency first aid saves lives, understanding mental health signs and symptoms, saves lives as well.
