Altar Servers: Altar servers are trained to assist at the celebration of Mass. Boys and girls are called to serve at Mass beginning in the 5th grade or at age 10. Older children and adults of any age are welcome to assist with this important ministry as well. There is a great need for servers at all Masses. Training is required.
Lectors: Lectors assume the responsibility of clearly proclaiming the Word of God in Scripture readings during Mass. An interested person will meet with a parish staff person who will explain the functions of a lector, allow time for practice at the ambo, and answer any questions you may have. Training is required.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: Extraordinary Ministers of Communion assist with distribution of the Holy Communion during Mass, and also provide Holy Communion to parishioners who are sick, homebound, or in nursing homes, witnessing to the presence of Christ in our midst. Training is required and can be conveniently arranged for anyone who is interested in participating in this ministry.
Hospitality - Ushers & Greeters: The responsibilities of the ushers and greeters are varied. They are responsible for making fellow parishioners as well as visitors feel welcome in our church, opening the door and greeting people as they come into the church. They are also responsible for safety of congregants, assisting if someone becomes ill or hurt. They also take up the offering and make sure the offertory procession is taken care of and facilitate the distribution of communion. They also distribute the bulletins.
Bereavement: Provides prayer, comfort and timely support to grieving parishioners who have experience the death of a loved one. Volunteers extend assistance to the families with the preparation of the vigil, funeral, liturgy and final committal. The care continues after death with special attention to each person's grief.
