Mary Queen of Heaven - A Word from Our Pastor
Happy 4th of July: Saturday is Independence Day. This is a good time for family and friends celebrating their home, the history, the blessings, the whole people of our great nation. We celebrate those who gave us the foundations of our nation. We reflect upon the principles for which they lived, worked and suffered. This is a time for recommitment, that through our effort this great nation may endure. This is a time for gratitude, for our forbearers and to Our God who has richly blessed us.
St. Ann and St. Margaret Mary: May your coming together as one parish be a beacon and guidance for our whole family of parishes. You are an inspiration. May God bless you in this moment and in all the days and years to come.
Readings for next week: Zechariah 9:9-10; Romans 8:9,11-13; Matthew 11:25-30
Reflection: A yoke is a tool enabling more efficient work. It does not remove the burden but makes it easier to carry. Our work has always been to love God and each other. Jesus does not remove the burden. He simply shows us the faces of the ones we are called to love and thereby makes it easier for us to love them. A good yoke is carefully shaped so as to rest easily on one's shoulders with a minimum of chafing. God calls each of us to express our love through our individual gifts. A yoke is often made to join two oxen, making them a team and enabling them to carry a burden too great for either working alone. Jesus' yoke joins us to each other, to him, and to his work. Jesus invites us to work beside him, learning from him, and growing to love through him.
Prayer: Jesus, through you we have come to know the beauty and love of your Father. Help us also to see the beauty and love in each other. Make us worthy to share the burden of your work and bring blessings always to the work of our hands.
